Osteopenia vs Osteoporosis: What’s the Difference?

Osteopenia describes bone density below the expected healthy range but not as low as the osteoporosis threshold used in standard diagnostic frameworks. Osteoporosis is associated with greater skeletal fragility and fracture risk.
Labels and scan numbers should be interpreted alongside age, fracture history and other risk factors.
